🥃 MACALLAN SELECT – RARE CASK BLACK
A truly striking expression from The Macallan, combining the elegance and refinement of one of Scotland’s most iconic single malt houses with a deeper, richer and more intense style.
Rare Cask Black showcases a darker side of Macallan, with layers of dried fruits, dark chocolate, warming spice and polished oak, all wrapped in the rich influence of carefully selected sherry-seasoned casks.
The result is a beautifully balanced Speyside single malt with depth, character and a long, elegant finish — a bottle that delivers both standout presentation and unmistakable Macallan style.
With its distinctive profile, premium presentation and collector appeal, Rare Cask Black is a seriously impressive addition to any whisky collection.

Dark, rich and unmistakably Macallan. Just 399 tickets. One exceptional Macallan Select – Rare Cask Black waiting in the Vault. 🔐🥃
The Macallan was licensed in 1824 by Alexander Reid, a farmer who distilled on the Easter Elchies estate above the River Spey. Nearly two centuries later it is one of the most sought-after whisky names in the world, famous for its sherry-seasoned oak casks and for a new distillery opened in 2018 at a cost of around £140 million.
Ask people what The Macallan tastes like and most will say sherry, dried fruit and spice. Rare Cask Black is the exception. It was launched in 2015 as part of The Macallan's 1824 Masters Series and was first sold only in travel retail, at selected airports around the world.
Master Whisky Maker Bob Dalgarno called it "out of character for The Macallan due to the subtle seam of smoke on the palate." Peated whisky is very rarely made at the distillery, so this bottling really is something different.
Rare Cask Black was made from fewer than 100 casks, mostly first-fill sherry-seasoned European and American oak. It has no age statement and is bottled at 48% ABV, non-chill-filtered to keep the full flavour. Its colour is called "autumnal leaves", and it launched at an RRP of around US$450.
The look matched the flavour. Both the bottle and the presentation box were black, a break from the brand's classic styling, said to suggest the dark, mysterious warehouses where the whisky matured.
