Description

🥃 WIN BRUICHLADDICH OLD SKOOL — 10 YEAR OLD

RETRO STYLE. ISLAY ROOTS. A SPECIAL ANNIVERSARY RELEASE.

Meet Bruichladdich Old Skool — a limited-edition single malt celebrating 25 years since the distillery’s revival in 2001, with a distinctive look inspired by its classic 1980s labels.

Distilled using 100% Islay-grown barley and matured for 10 years, this release brings together predominantly first-fill bourbon casks with a small parcel of first-fill Sauternes wine casks.

Expect inviting stone-fruit aromas, followed by layers of soft barley sugar and stewed pear — a beautifully fruity expression of Bruichladdich’s signature character.

Bottled at 50% ABV, Old Skool combines nostalgic styling with the distillery’s modern commitment to local barley and island craftsmanship.

A memorable prize for Bruichladdich fans and a distinctive addition to any whisky collection.

"The Laddie" on Islay

Bruichladdich is an Islay distillery founded in 1881, on the shore of Loch Indaal. Fans call it "The Laddie". The distillery was brought back to life in 2001 and today makes both unpeated Bruichladdich and the heavily peated Port Charlotte and Octomore whiskies.

Twenty-five years on

Old Skool is a limited 10 year old released in 2026 to mark 25 years since the distillery's revival. It also honours the farmers who grow its barley. Bruichladdich has worked directly with local Islay growers for more than two decades, starting with one farmer in 2004.

Barley from 14 Islay farms

Most Scotch is made with barley grown on the mainland. This bottling is made from unpeated Islay-grown barley from 14 farm partners, and the label shows a map of Islay with their names on it.

The retro look

The label is inspired by Bruichladdich's 1980s bottlings, mixed with the brand's modern style. Hence "Old Skool". The bottle is made with 60% recycled glass.

What is in the bottle

  • Age: 10 years
  • ABV: 50%, reduced with Islay spring water
  • Casks: mostly (about 95%) first-fill bourbon casks, with about 5% first-fill Sauternes wine casks
  • Price: around £60

First-fill bourbon casks add vanilla, coconut and soft sweetness. Sauternes is a sweet French white wine, and a small amount adds a touch of honeyed fruit.

In the glass

  • Nose: nectarine, apricot and red plum, with vanilla custard, barley sugar, orange peel, coconut cream and a coastal salty note
  • Palate: silky and slightly oily, with stone fruit, stewed pear, cooked apple, clove, ginger and gingerbread
  • Finish: long, with apricot jam and custard, toasted coconut and grapefruit zest

Try it neat first, then with a few drops of water. Our guide on how to taste whisky like a pro walks you through nose, palate and finish step by step.
